About the US MERCURY HEAD Silver Dimes:
Originally called the
Winged Liberty
Head dime, the Mercury Dime is the 10 cent coin that was minted by the United States government from 1916 to 1945.  They are the same size as today's non-silver dimes, but they contain 90% silver and are among the favorite coins desired by survivalists, investors and collectors.  These US silver dimes are still legal tender of the US government, even though they have not been produced since 1945.
Great Barter Items
Several things make Mercury Dimes attractive to survivalists:  Each mercury silver dime contains 0.07235 troy ounces of silver (7.235 % of an ounce) and weighs 2.50 grams. They are easily recognized as valuable for their precious metal content and being made of silver, because the design is completely different from today's Roosevelt dimes.  Small enough to trade in times of crises or economic collapse.  Easily used for barter because of being small and convenient.  It is easier to pay "exactly what something is worth" using small silver money like these, rather than using much larger coins or bars.  And . . . Mercury Silver Dimes are getting harder and harder to find, due to the big silver melt-downs that occurred when silver was higher.
Dates you receive will be before 1946 and are randomly picked from our current stock. Although these are in circulated condition, you won't find any super-slick junky coins, all will have readable dates and most will be dated from the last few years they were issued.
